Melbourne Spring Fashion Week 2012 – Day 1

Pants: Kookai (ASOS Europe Collection)
Top: Little chinese botique
Lipstick: Morange – M.A.C.

Today was officially the first show of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week! David Jones kicked of the festival in Melbourne City Square with a runway featuring their clothing for this years Spring Racing Carnival.

I decided that as it was the start of spring I needed to wear something colourful and light to the first day of fashion week. I got a lot of compliments on my way to the show saying that these pants are insanely colourful. In conclusion, job well done. This top I just picked up from a little asian store in the middle of nowhere, but its really well tailored to my body shape (eg. massive boobs and small waist)

Onto the show!

It was pretty hot and stuffy in the city square tent, and lots of people turned up to see the the show. I almost died from a heart attack when Gai Waterhouse sat down right in front of me. I’ll let you in on a little secret, I’m just as obsessed with the racing world as I am with fashion.

Jacinta Campbell, the ambassador for Caulfield and Emma Freedman, David Jones ambassador, stepped up to commentate for the show, both looking amazing. I especially loved Jacinta’s outfit, the mirror reflection of the design just rocking my world.

The show kicked off with the two “c’s”, Cup and Colour. That’s what we are going for this year people!

A bright Camilla & Marc dress thats sure to catch the eye

I love this pant suit but really not feeling the fascinator with those colours.

This Thurley pant suit has caught the eye of everyone whose been in David Jones this season

Absolutely love the design on this dress below.

Definitely my favourite dress of the show below. I am just in love with the fabric. It is like an underwater design. Brilliant!

All in all some impressive stuff. I would have liked to see a few more dresses in bright colours for Cup day, but maybe that’s just me being picky.
I really can’t wait until Spring Carnival, and the first show of the 2012 Melbourne Spring Fashion Week has given me a lot to think about for my outfit!
Don’t forget to follow!
Until thursday!

Ps. Thank you to my best friend Gemma – The Girl and the Sea – for taking such amazing photos!
