The CFDA Fashion Awards took place in New York this week and it was one to remember. The CFDA Fashion Awards , which honours excellence in fashion design, is often referred to as “the Oscars” of the fashion world.
Most of the time the designers pick a celebrity that is going to wear one of their designs, which makes for a fabulous red carpet.
Some of the best fashion from the night:
How good does Jourdan look? She is dressed in Calvin Klein Collection and teamed it up with a Perrin Paris clutch. The slit is coming back in the fashion world and Jourdan proves it doesn’t always look tacky.
The intricacy and detail in Givenchy gown by Riccardo Tisci amazes me. It is just a reminder that modernism and class can be joined together to create brilliant fashion. Moreover, Adriana looks sexy! There is a lot of delicious thigh showing there, doll!
Hello Sideboob! If you have read my earlier posts on Melbourne and Georgette, you will know I have a bit of an obsession with the classic sideboob (If you haven’t seen it yet, you can find it here). Nicole looks dashing and sexy in Marc Jacobs and that metallic material blends in nicely with her delicate features without being too sharp. To finish off, the simple make-up and hair doesn’t make her seem too over the top.
This Herve L. Leroux gown is SO Sofia. I love how she shows off her curves and picks out colours that highlights her eyes. And my goodness look at that cleavage! That is a defeat in itself. However, I wish I could take away the necklace, as I believe it is a bit too over the top matched with the dress. Vampire anyone?
Whose to say that men can’t go in the running for best dressed? This crisp and well fitted suit looks great on Tobey…and lets face it, he is such a cutie – he couldn’t be ignored.
Alessandra wears a white Kaufmanfranco gown and shows off her figure. I love a simple white gown and I believe CFDA was the perfect event for this one.
This J. Mendel gown is reminiscent of a Grecian style and I truly believe it is the sort of design that suits everyone, especially Constance. The transparent fabric beneath her knees breaks up the harshness of the style, making it more modern and sexy.
Hailee is dressed in SUNO and I think it is one of my favourites from the red carpet. The raw silk material – matched with a delicate design – is the epitome of fashion. Plus, the style suits Hailee absolutely.
Lily is dressed in The Row and what I love most about this is the contrast between the shoes and dress. Not many people can pull of the light cream colour, but Lily looks perfect in it. And she makes the outfit have a little more personality with those red shoes – Love it!
Although I believe the Peplum was very ‘last season’ I adore the colour of this Rebecca Minkoff dress. It’s definitely got the ‘WOW’ factor going for it and the jewellery Jessica has matched with the dress suits it perfect. All in all a pretty good outfit.
Jennifer Fisher and Athena Calderone
Now it’s pretty obvious what the focus points are for these outfits. Hello CL! Look at those classic Christian Louboutins, and how these classy and simple outfits almost centre around the shoes. Other than this, the colour of this purple is to die for. Black and Purple are two colours that just scream elegance.
Wearing Calvin Klein, Hanneli just shined on the red carpet. The colour of this outfit suits her complexion perfectly as well as showcasing a unique design. The delicateness of the fabric just highlighted her natural make-up. I absolutely love this!
But when there is the best, there is also the worst. Here are two red carpet disasters for the 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards:
Marina is wearing Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. Part of me doesn’t understand how the same designer made Adriana Lima’s dress, which can be seen above. All I know is that this is just horrible. The sports top neckline, mixed in with lace and leather gloves…I can’t even express how sick this makes me feel.
Catherine’s dress, although not so bad around the waist, has a highly unattractive top. I feel as if it is borderline grandma, which is not something you are trying to achieve while at the CFDA Fashion Awards.
