Cannes Film Festival 2015
Written By Melbourne and Georgette Editor
Wow, what a crazy few weeks it has been!
Thankfully we have had a nice rest after MBFWA and our attention has been turned to the glamour world of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
It’s honestly our favourite time of the year for seeing the best and brightest in couture gown designs.
We love the glamour and the prestige, not to mention the unique films that are featured there.
So lets recap our favourite fashion that graced the red carpet this week.
Wow. We don’t think we have ever seen our Aussie golden girl look so unbelievable. And of course she does, she is wearing our favourite couture designer Elie Saab. You all know how much we adore their designs. Embellishments and feathers are also seriously on trend at the moment. However in the end, her beauty here also adds to the gown, making her shine on the red carpet.
One vital thing about shining on the red carpet is that the dress must compliment the wearer. It can be the most amazing dress in the world but, unless it suits the person wearing it, it will look dud. In the case of Lupita Nyong’o she has done everything right. This Gucci gown just suits her so much, especially since it is a contrast to her beautiful skin colour. It just makes her stand out.We also absolutely love the design of the gown – most evidently the sunray pleating.
This beautiful Burberry Prorsum dress was the odd one out on the red carpet. It was new and unique and thats why we loved it. The detail in the pattern and gorgeous structure of the dress tied together perfectly. The sheer fabric is alluring and the gorgeous diamond necklace bring a sexy element to the gown. We love it.
At the photo call events we get to see celebrities a bit more dressed down than they are on the red carpet, but still wearing beautiful couture pieces to match the causal style. Emily blunt looks gorgeous in this intricate Fall 2015 Peter Pilotto design. The colours match the tropical nature of cannes and her gorgeous skin tone beautifully.
If you have been reading our blog for a while now you would know that Diane Kruger is our fashion idol. We are a little obsessed. But – come on! She has done it yet again! We are in complete awe at this beautiful custom made, mermaid like gown by Prada. And she just tops it off with gorgeous locks and draw dropping Harry Winston jewellery. We will say it again, this girl can do no wrong. WHO IS YOUR STYLIST BECAUSE WE WOULD LIKE TO MARRY THEM! So…thats why she gets two photos.
Perfection! We love this elegant and simple white number, worn by the beautiful, Bar Refaeli. The shape of the gown itself is so unusual and different, and yet it clings to her body perfectly! We would love to know who the designer is because despite our awesome research skills we haven’t been able to discover whom it is. But overall proves – Keeping it simple can do no harm!
All in all, we have seen less dresses that we dislike, which is unusual for Cannes. However, we have been inspired by those that have caught our eye, and once again we can’t wait for the glamour and glitz of the next festival. Perhaps we might even grace the red carpet with our presence one day…Well a girl can dream right?
Until next time
