The Aje runway looked good, felt good, and smelt good (like Grandiflora Fragrances actually).
In a nutshell, the collection was effortless. Models emerged through the gardenia smelling mist to the industrial lit runway. It was beautiful before anyone even set foot on the runway.
The Americans have rocker chic… and Aje gave Aussie’s what we’re calling ‘tradie chic’. Models shunned stilettos, and instead embraced the true blue Aussie Blundstone. The hardness of the ‘Blunnies’ was contrasted with relaxed and simple silhouettes. The collection drew femininity from Aje’s signature detail and embellishment.
The collection was the love child of Victorian and Elizabethan styles. The necklines were high and frilled, the sleeves billowing and regal. Making sure the Blundstones weren’t lonely, the designers added to the contrast with tough leather bikers and classic true blue denim cuts. In all, it was a country girl’s version of 9-5 dressing.
This season Aje has embraced sensibility. Leaving the stilettos at home has never looked so appealing.
